Wheat and Chaff: Paranoia and the Potomac

barack obama

Brad Parker: We must walk the fine line of repudiating the tragicomic primping of the right wing entertainment complex, while forcing the Democrats and the President to confront the real threats to democracy that they pose with their continued partnership with the Military/Industrial/Prison Complex.

Progressives Push Obama

Brad Parker: Rather than continue to lift the citizen’s perspective through “Hope, Change and Believe,” the President’s team has moved to “Fear, Pragmatics and Censure.”

In Their “Right” Mind

puppet-master-wide

Brad Parker: What if the focus of all of our anxieties can be directed to the Orchestrators, to Crony? What if we can help them to disenthrall themselves from the illusion of a past that never was and awaken their courage for a future that must be?

Elections Should Be Won Not Bought

pay to play politics

Brad Parker: As President of Valley Democrats United and a board member of the California Clean Money Action Fund, I’m asking you to join our club in considering endorsing an important and exciting campaign finance reform measure on the upcoming March 8th Los Angeles city ballot, Measure H. Measure H is a Fair Elections measure that would rein in pay-to-play politics in Los Angeles. It would prohibit contributions and fundraising by bidders for large city contracts, and punishes violators by banning them from getting city contracts for up to four years.

I’ll Be Seeing You

Brad Parker

Brad Parker: I dedicate my public life to the future for all of our children but when I look around I still hear that song. In all things new I see all things that came before and seem so much dearer to me now. When you are gone I will still be seeing you in everything and everywhere.

Devil and the Deep Blue Dog

blue dog democrats

Brad Parker: This November, Progressives, Liberals and Democrats like myself are caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Dog. Greens and other Independents are being squeezed to the breaking point. This is a classic dilemma – a situation requiring a choice between equally undesirable alternatives.

In the Shadow of the Dreamers

Shirlley Jones and Burt Lancaster in "Elmer Gantry"

Brad Parker: It is only fitting that the avatar of the extreme right-wing political, cultural and economic prevaricators should stand in the shadow of the Dreamers nearly a half century since the eclipsing call to peace delivered by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Where better to expose the Elmer Gantry of all things hateful, angry and victimized?

Why Winograd Matters

Brad Parker: Marcy Winograd is more relevant than most of us, today, right here, and right now. Through six years of campaigning to win a seat in the House of Representatives, she has revealed the true inner workings of the Democratic Party, both in California and nationally. Her epic struggle to unseat Representative Jane Harman, in the 36th Congressional District of California, has proven Winograd’s true grit and revealed the Party’s soulless Status Quo Establishment in inexorable decline.

Go Loco? or Go Local…

leftwing politics

Brad Parker: Sideways is the new direction for this bundle of believers, these frustrated yet sunny souls. Status quo has wrapped its stony fingers around the electoral apparatus of each ardent constituency. We are in a stall, a dead calm sea. And the natives are restless, very restless. But before we muster up the courage for a new direction, let us take a deeper look at the state of the State.

Crony’s Triangulating Fog: Grifters, Greed and the Gullible Americans

Crony

Brad Parker: Americans, behavior-modified to trust advertising, swimming in the dead pool of propaganda environmentally disguised as benign advertising and Infotainment, continue to cop to the Triangulating Fog Machine’s all sizzle no steak obfuscation. The only question left to ask, now that the confidence game is more widely known, is – will they keep buying it like a beaten dog or wake up and demand their money and government back?

Holiday Shopping 2009: The Customer Is Always Right!

Art Torres

Brad Parker: If our former Chair of the CDP was correct, that the Democratic Party is a business, then it follows that it is also just another in the current line of American businesses that can’t or won’t Stand & Deliver on its Goods & Services

That’s Just The Way It Is

Blue-Dog

I believe that the only hope we can believe in is our Progressive Plan for the future. Let us, as Democrats and citizens, disenthrall ourselves from the old tired notion that “That’s just the way it is” and imagine, create and promote a new way – Progressive.

End of the Line for the CDP Caucuses?

Little_Red_Riding_Ho

Any political party solely dedicated to get out the vote (GOTV) or electioneering is
doomed. Today, tomorrow, soon. Ask the Republicans. Mickey Edwards,
former Republican Congressman from Oklahoma, has stated that the demise of the
Republican Party derives from the day that they decided to turn
the Party into an “incumbents-only” GOTV machine.

The Walled Garden: Fading Away at the California Democratic Party

empty-promises

Like Dorothy and her intrepid trio of lovable dreamers arriving at Oz, the Progressive Movement barreled into the Democratic Party in 2005 with high ideals and even higher hopes. Now, four scintillating years later we realize it was all a mirage of our own creation. The Party of the Left has been reduced to an [...]

A New Progressive Plan: Parker for Progressive Chair 2009

brad-parker

Email, meetups and rabble-rousing speeches. Enewsletters, blogs, websites, listserves and labor rallies. PDA, DFA and MoveOn. CODEPINK, Wellstone Action! and the Courage Campaign. Like a phoenix from the ashes of the Liberal ideal we rose, just four short years ago. We are the resurrection of the Spirit of 76’. We are the flame of liberal [...]

I Stand Corrected

Let me be among the first to congratulate my friends who always believed that Senator Barack Obama would win the election for the Presidency. As most of you know, I was on record one year ago stating that it was my firm belief that America was a country beset by discrimination. Furthermore, that this stain [...]

Meet The Mockers

After the din of the desperados of defiant manifest destiny had wafted away across the 10,000 lakes of Minnesota. After the air escaped from the red, white, and blue balloons. After the moose gutter and the aerial bomber left the building. When all was quiet as midnight rolled across America. Just then, through the obfuscating [...]

Sailing Around the Cape of Good Hope with Hillary – Finally

When last we saw Captain Clinton, she was traversing rough waters. Her crew was in full mutiny mode. Her first mate was on the bow, railing at the fickle seas and the cruel fates that had buffeted their ship of state for many a moon. The body politic languished in a discomposed mood, scrutinizing her [...]

Walkin’ the Planks: The DNC Platform Metamorphosis

by Brad Parker — Peruse the following excerpts from the platform and policy positions of a state Democratic Party, presumptive nominee and the national committee and you will notice a thread of unremarkable but substantial importance: the movement from left to right in the process of drafting a national platform for the DNC.

Yellow Doggin’ It in D’Town

Thunderheads roiled the Rockies surrounding D’Town. Surging through the 16th Street mall came the massed and masked desperadoes, demanding an end to the war and the empire. Closely watched and nervously corralled by every conceivable form of police and paramilitary squad on the alert for reported low tech weapons of mass destruction – round and [...]

Creating a Quality Economy, Part 3

by Mark Pash, with Brad Parker — Education is very, very important to individuals in a capitalistic system – especially math and science education in our high tech world. It is also very important to a democratic society in general. But, it is only one of the important components for a successful economy. Brazil, Russia [...]

Creating a Quality Economy, Part 2

Line Chart with Rats

By Mark Pash, with Brad Parker – Capitalism does significantly raise the standard of living but not for all and not enough for many. Therefore, it is up to government to take a more active role in the economy in order to overcome these flaws with as little hindrance as possible. In other words, one [...]
