Elections Have Consequenses – Can We Sit By and Let This Happen?

The United States Supreme Court won’t consider Troy Davis’ appeal. Troy Davis was scheduled to be executed last month in Georgia but the U.S. Supreme Court issued a stay of execution just two hours before the execution was to occur in order to determine whether it the justices would hear his appeal.

This case has received world wide attention because there is no direct physical evidence tying Davis to the crime scene, three witnesses claim another man later admitted to the killing, and since the trial, seven of the nine non-police witnesses have recanted their testimony.

The U.S. Supreme Court did not explain why it won’t hear Davis’s case. The court’s ruling allowed Georgia officials to obtain a new death warrant. The Georgia officials have obtained a new death warrant. The execution of Troy Anthony Davis is now scheduled for October 27, 2008.
