The American InJustice System

Per capita, the United States incarcerates more of its citizens than any industrialized nation in the world. Over 2.3 million Americans are living behind bars or under conditions where the state oversees their conduct.

Crime rates have continued to fall over the past 25 years, however, incarceration rates have grown.  Funding to build prisons exceeds funding to build schools.

We incarcerate 1 in 8 American men of all races and 1 in 3 African American men.

prison 267x300 The American InJustice SystemIs this truly the land of the free. We must ask ourselves what is causing this dramatic growth in the prison population and then ask if this is what we really want or need.
