This month, friends, supporters, political allies and family members gathered at 6457 E. Whittier Blvd., in East Los Angeles to celebrate and inaugurate the grand opening of a new progressive community law office in East Los Angeles.

This new community legal center is the joint effort of Mercedes V. Castillo and Guillermo Suárez M. Both are community activists and community lawyers. Both are long time activists in progressive struggles.

This new community legal center is a continuation of Mercedes’ and Guillermo’s goal of putting their legal skills and advocacy to work in favor of their communities in achieving legal, economic and social justice. This new community legal center will offer the poor and working class residents of East Los Angeles, legal services in the areas of immigration law, tenant defense, family law, criminal defense, employment law and bankruptcy law.

The Law Offices of East Los Angeles are committed to serving the poor and working-class communities of the Los Angeles area. We are currently accepting donations of law and political books or popular educational material, for our community library. We also offer “Know Your Rights” workshops.
