In the ’60s, groups like the weather underground taught us that any compromise, any dealing with “the enemy” was a threat to “The Revolution”. Look where that got us – the Nixon years.

Now, the extremists who control the Republican Party are putting litmus test extremism at the forefront of their policy making. (I actually read a right wing blog this week that started with the line: “Goldwater was no conservative!”) Look where that’s getting them.

Let us NOT follow the lead of the weather underground or their philosophical soulmates in the Republican Party. Rather, let us start the ball rolling on health care reform.

Forward movement is the first part of any journey to a better place.
