I believe "black unity" will continue to remain an abstract concept, that's idealized, and romanticized, by many in the black community. They associate total conformity, with uniting as a group. I believe what many look to as uniting, would actually be living in a vaccum. Recycling the same action, and responses , with dated concepts that simply can't compete with modern discrimination, prejudice, and indifference. I don't believe many blacks who preach unity, are actually ready to set aside their personal resentments, and intolerance, for it to be applied. The entire community extracting their personal individuality,in order to succumb to the demands of someone else, is unrealistic. Some may not recognize homosexuals, transgendered in the community. The community itself is divided, because human beings exist within it. Our tradition simply isn't as strong enough to compel blacks to unite on the same scale as asians or jewish. But, if one were to look closer at their communities, they weill find divisions exist as well. So long as it continues to be fantasized, instead of a realistic design, it'll remain a pipe dream.
