Discrimination is the most abhorent ignorance. I am a witch and am persecuted constantly, even though I do not throw it in anyones face like the Christians do. What business is it of anyone elses what religion you are? What business is it of anyone elses which sex you prefer? What business is it of anyone elses what race you are, and your racial past? Why should they care? you are letting them have their beliefs, why can't I have mine?

Christianity is a lot of the problem. They are taught that they have to force their ways and beliefs on others. I have nothing against christianity or other religions, except that they are right and everyone else is wrong, and that it is their job to force you to their views. Most religions and philosophies do not have this self centered view, but there are a lot of christians, is the problem.

I discuss this a lot in my blog Dancers In The Dark. My hopes are that people will lighten up and let other be themselves.

Thank you for this article! It is informative, as well as compassionate and timely, regarding issues now facing the larger LBGTQ community. It also serves as a reminder that, for many Native Americans, Thanksgiving may be an occasion for sorrow and loss rather than thankfulness.
It is sometimes difficult to raise the subject of Native Americans in a tactful way at a Thanksgiving dinner, especially as a guest. Your article will make this easier to do. It is also worth noting that Thanksgiving was influenced, if not actually based upon, the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. This reinforces both multicultural and spiritual awareness, as well as the historical fact that both of these peoples were victimized by genocide.
