The Catholic church has condoned Homosesuality and protected homosexuals within the church since the days of the Roman Empire. It's also actively participated in, and profited from, man's greatest inhumanity to man, the African/European slave trade. It has been said that Jesus participated in what has been called THE WHITE LINEN CEREMONY, where he shared life giving fluids with a young man. When I've brought this up to Christians, they quickly refer to WATER as the life giving fluid being referenced. Siemen is a life giving fluid(part of the fertilization process)while water is just a life sustaining fluid. The church's struggles on the issue of homosexuality is due to a conflict between two cultural influences within the church. One is the ancient culture that exists within the heirachy of the church itself, especially the Catholic church, that influences the permissive attitude toward homosexuality. Then there's the modern cultures opposing view on homosexuality. This culture is comprised of people who attend and provide financial support for the church, which seems to have become it's main focus.
