Andrew Breitbart and Post Racial America

Shirley Sherrod

Shirley Sherrod

The Shirley Sherrod incident is an  indication that Racial McCarthyism abounds in 2010. America is scared and any accusation of racism is quickly and aggressively addressed. But the protection against racism and bigotry in post racial America is now confined to perceived offenses towards Anglo Americans.

While Anglo Americans have not suffered the nooses of the KKK, not felt the humiliation of Jim Crow laws , not feared a state in which they must carry their passports at all times, or have seen restaurant signs comparing them to dogs, the media- government- political complex of the 21 century is now thoroughly devoted to their protection from racism.

The swift reaction of the Obama administration in the notorious incident of Shirley Sherrod is an indication that the fear of the accusation of racism against white Americans has spread into official Washington. The success of the frame up of an honest and decent farm saving hero by the Joe McCarthy of race, Andrew Breitbart, is unfortunately just a symptom of the hysteria that has gripped the media and political elite.

Apparently the trio of Breitbart, the GOP, and the Tea Party are the now racial conscience of America. It seems that any creative edit from the triangle of racial terror can suffice to inspire the strength of the federal government to strike down any individual or organization that crosses their path. Shirley Sherrod was indeed lucky that a white farmer came to her defense early or she and the NAACP would have gone the way of Acorn. The fear of anti-white racial accusations has so gripped DC we can expect future Salem like trials with Sean Hannity presiding as judge and Goody Breitbart serving as the entranced petitioner.

Breitbart and the Republican party he caters to have found a way to scare the world’s most powerful executive branch and the once venerable US Senate into fits with the mere upload function of Youtube. While it’s amusing to watch the mass hypnosis the right has performed on the DC media complex it has real and very negative consequences. One of the most apparent outcomes includes the way in which the US Senate has refused to address immigration reform.

The un-confirmable and fantastical wide scale anti-anglo bias combined with the phantom menace of headless white corpses in the Arizona desert has been enough to scare DC into a paralysis that perpetuates an entire shadow underclass of abused workers in America. The leaders of our country are so scared of the scare that they have deemed it acceptable to throw the dreams of immigrant college bound young adults into the streets and to discard the US born children of undocumented workers into cold detention cells.

There is no reason to not have fixed the immigration system in this country long ago other than the fear of the race based illusions created by a few cruel grand wizards pulling levers behind sheet curtains, yet DC cowers like a weak lion when they bellow.

After the McCarthy hearings and after the Salem trials there was much gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands. Hindsight is clear and history can prove to be a heartless critic. The media and those in power are at a juncture: will sanity be brought to bear or will we continue to dunk important policies in the hunt for witches?

Mario proudly says "I am not here to run a campaign strategy, I am here to talk to the men and women that can't make heads or tails of the guys in charge of the country. I am not here to explain what those in power are doing. I am here to say 'you don't understand what they are doing, because what their doing doesn't make sense'." Mario has devoted his life to progressive causes and can be heard on various radio stations including AM 760 in Denver Colorado and KTLK AM 1150 in Los Angeles. I thought that progressives were educated, but you sir have really missed the mark on this one. It was Glen Beck that said all of the facts should be considered before anyone looses their job. The NAACP had the entire tape, so they should have come to MS.Sherrod’s rescue, but they through her under the bus instead.

I understand that you may not have traveled internationally and are unaware that most countries require non-citizens to carry their passports with them at all times, while in their country.

@concerned in Portland, You should not think “progressives are educated.” Rather, think of your own reasoning. After listening to O’Reilly calling for Sherrod’s resignation, wihtout checking the facts, and despite hearing from Ms. Sherrod that she resigned under pressure from the Obama Administration, you accuse the NAACP of throwing Ms. Sherrod under the bus!!!!!! This is kindergarten reasoning. Next, you claim that most countries require that non-citizens carry their passports with them. No. Passports are requried at border control stations. Forms of identification are required for day to day business. You do not have to carry your passport with you. Drivers’ licenses work. Your comments are in the same vein as O’Reilly’s and Hannity’s–part of “The Triumph of Ignorance” in journalism.

I forgot to tell you that some whites have be arrested for helpiong blacks in the past and some were killed right along with blacks. Do you not remember because you are so young or because you wish not to remember? I and two others were arrested in Texas in 1960. My crime was taking a black person into Texas. I stopped the police at 10PM to ask directions and they noticed a black man in my car. They asked for our driving permits, and other info, but the black guy did not have a driving permit, but he did have an active duty army ID card. The next question was did we all have those federal ID cards, and we did, so the arrest ended. You do know what would have happened if we three had not been in the military, right?

Times are not perfect, never will be, but the gas stations do not have three restrooms, labeled, Men, Women, and Colored anymore. I can also go to a beach with black friends in any state now, not just the northern ones.

Good article. It is interesting to read that so many liberals in the Obama and elsewhere watch Fox News and care about what they broadcast. No wonder they are number one in cable news. They have conservatives, most of the independents and now the the liberals are watching. They must be doing something right. It is scary to think that any administration makes knee-jerk decisions based on the imagined stories in any form of media. This woman should sue. She was denied a hearing and was forced out of her job in the worse possible way that demeaned her and her family. Now the White House owns this problem and has this woman to deal with. She won’t go quietly.

  4. Marshall says:

what a guy, Beck takes up for this lady, saying he sees no reason to fire her because after looking at the whole content of her talk to the NAACP meeting, she seemed to be relating a story from the past that was an epiphany to her on how people should be treated, black or white.

His show was at 5PM, so he did a lot of research in a short time and did better than the 8PM shows, which still did not have the full tape. What is really funny is that the lady would not appear on Beck’s show. She heard she was going to be on Beck’s show and assumed he was going to take her to task, he did not.

The press is so sure of how Beck will treat a subject, the press assumes the same as the lady, wonder why? Is she being led by a press that is off base.
