Norman Solomon: We need to build a grassroots progressive movement — wide, deep and strong enough to fight the right and challenge the corporate center of the Democratic Party.
Norman Solomon: Demagogues in the Republican Party, and their Democratic allies, will say this is about amnesty and open borders. No matter how many times they repeat it, it won’t be true.

David Swanson: Marcy Winograd is a stand-out. She’s is campaigning against Congresswoman Jane Harman, a wealthy warmonger corporatist who has been caught conspiring against her nation with foreign agents, who suppressed the warranteless spying story until George W. Bush could get a second term in office, and who has referred to herself proudly as “the best Republican in the Democratic Party.” Marcy Winograd, on the other hand, has been a leader of Progressive Democrats of America and has perhaps the smartest and most progressive platform in the country. She also garnered 38% last time, with no help.
Marcy Winograd: Ultimately, we have to ask what the Democratic Party stands for? Who will it endorse? Someone who rushes us to war, covers up illegal wiretapping, and votes with Wall Street to make it easier for banks to foreclose? Or someone committed to global diplomacy, the Bill of Rights, and an end to run-away greed ?
Ed Rampell: Kucinich’s March 17 capitulation two days after flying with President Obama aboard Air Force One to his Ohio district reveals Kucinich’s true colors and shows he’s running true to form. Kucinich’s eyebrow-raising healthcare flip-flop, like his presidential campaigns, raises the question: How Left is Left?
Glenn Beck weighs in on the congressional race in California against Marcy Winograd and Jane Harman
Thunderheads roiled the Rockies surrounding D’Town. Surging through the 16th Street mall came the massed and masked desperadoes, demanding an end to the war and the empire. Closely watched and nervously corralled by every conceivable form of police and paramilitary squad on the alert for reported low tech weapons of mass destruction – round and [...]
For Vincent Bugliosi, one of America ‘s foremost prosecutors and authors, George W. Bush’s purposeful crime of misleading America into war is a vile, despicable and prosecutable act. It angers Bugliosi deeply. So much so that he’s written a new book, The Prosecution Of George W. Bush For Murder. To be clear, this is not [...]
Later this week, each taxpayer in this country will be receiving their portion of the economic stimulus package that was passed by what can only be described as the combined stupidity, irresponsibility, and corruption of our executive and legislative branches. Granted there were those who tried valiantly to craft a just and effective package but [...]
One hundred and ten Progressive Democrats of America members and their guests filled the center section of the Nuart Theater in Los Angeles for the premiere of Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro’s new film, “Body of War.” It was a sold-out house and a very special evening for everyone lucky enough to have gotten their [...]
Congratulations to the winners at this afternoon’s Obama caucus for CD 30, Robert Vanderet, Victoria von Szeliski, and Shayne Adamski. This trio of very organized campaign volunteers ran as a team, and took all three delegate seats. With heartwarming support from progressive Democrats and the Santa Monica Democratic Club, I came in third for the [...]
With dramatic new language to end the war in Iraq added to the state platform, and a resounding vote against Proposition 98, which would end rent control, the California Democratic Party convention in San Jose Sunday was invigorated by new progressive spirit. Santa Monica City Councilmember Kevin McKeown was among the local delegates aligned with [...]
