Dan Bacher: Restore the Delta recently unveiled a new study by California Water Research Associates showing that 100,000 acres of land retired by Westlands Water District is not going back into irrigated production, “no matter how much water Westlands gets.”
Robert Reich: Americans no longer have the purchasing power to keep the economy going at full capacity. Since the debt bubble burst, most Americans have had to reduce their spending; they need to repay their debts, can’t borrow as before, and must save for retirement.
Jim Fuller: Everything the American public has been told by the corporate news media about the anti-austerity uprisings in France, England and other European countries is a lie.
Steven Hill: “Where are you Americans? Why aren’t Americans out in the streets? If Americans are angry, why aren’t they out in the streets like we are?” He said something quickly to his comrades in French, then reverted back to English. “It’s like Americans have gone to sleep or something. You used to have many protests.”
Steven Hill: Social Security Plus would provide a stable, secure retirement for every American and contribute greatly toward a solid foundation from which to build a strong and vibrant 21st century U.S. economy.
Sherwood Ross: President Obama has U.S. taxpayers paying billions to meet the costly payrolls of 50,000 troops and 190,000 contractors in Iraq while 20-million-plus jobless are looking for work in USA and can’t find it.

Ron Paul Should Apologize for Racist Comments, Rick Perry for Misusing Christianity
