Good Grief: Who’s Going to Cover LA Now? The LA Media Reform Group’s 6th Annual media conference at Occidental College takes place Saturday, April 27th
We Fight Low Information
What do survivors of 9/11, David Beckham, and Paul McCartney have in common? They all claim their phones were hacked by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. in a scheme to obtain personal information, which allegedly involved bribing police.
Jim Fuller: Day after day, Beck strides his set at Fox and rants, spit sometimes spraying from his mouth, his puffy face often growing red and his eyes crazily wide, waving his arms and looking and sounding more each week like somebody who is about to crack up before millions of viewers.

The hatred was palpable on the State Capitol’s steps. Hatred for taxes, hatred for government, hatred for state workers, hatred for teachers, hatred for Democrats, and hatred for all of the strawmen that leap from the imaginations of talk radio jocks. But the most hated figure of all at today’s “Tea Bag” anti-tax rally in [...]

Charles Hayes: What 42 makes crystal clear is how shallow and superficial the strain of contempt is that enables and sustains racism as prejudice is handed down from one generation to the next.
