    I find it odd that this story is a year and half old and I’m the first to comment…
    but I wanted to say how disrespectful it is to use the picture of Salinger that was chosen, without explaining in context. That picture was taken when two “journalists” stalked Salinger as he was coming out of the post office in Cornish, New Hampshire. The “journalists” blocked Salinger’s car with their own and forced him into a confrontation. To just use that picture with no explanation is more misleading “journalism”. Think about it, how would you react if two strangers blocked your car with their car and started snapping your picture repeatedly?

    As for Maynard, yes Salinger was a little creepy to be involved with a girl that looked SO young, even though she was an adult techincally. But if Salinger exploited Maynard for her looks, then Maynard has exploited her exploitation for money.
