Before the "objective " scam,journalism was partisan. Objectivity became a ruse for big advertisers which drove the partisans newspapers out of business or that's a one line summary of Ben Bendicians history of early 20th century media. I'm also concerned about local TV media which can be very sophisticated in its anti-democratic coverage. Little or no local policy stories mostly crime coverage, yet always claiming "complete local coverage," which is very orwellian. We don't even have data on which stations are pure crime stories and which discus policy. We can't even steer our neighbors and local contacts away from the worst local news outlets because no one really studies them. See John T Hamilton's "Channeling Violence." The concept of "Mean World Syndrome" is the personality type that perpetuates the prison / industrial and the military industrial complex, which is also under studied.
