The Single Payer Solution

A Conference on Health Care in California, entitled The Single Payer Solution, will be held at the Pasadena Presbyterian Church, 585 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, on Saturday May 9, 2009, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Conference is free and open to everyone. There is a nominal charge for the boxed lunch.

• Plenary Speakers, Sheila James Kuehl, retired Senator and author of SB840, will talk about California’s single payer plan as a “gold standard” for the nation;

• Sara Rogers, Health Consultant for Senator Mark Leno, author of the new single payer plan, SB810, will discuss advocacy in 2009; and

• Elizabeth Sholes, California Church IMPACT, will provide guidance in how to reach out to elected officials.

Seminar Speakers will include local, state and national experts such as Geri Jenkins, President, California Nurses Association; Rev. David Bos, Chair of the national PACT Health, Education & Welfare Assoc.; Susan Wu, MD, Board Member, California Physicians Alliance; and Cindy Young, Sr. Health Policy Advisor, CSEA.
