Dick and Sharon are a pair information activists who got fed up with mainstream media. They were tired of the fluff or outright misinformation. And they were tired of being low information voters. So, together they founded the LA Progressive — a site that gives voters the information they need to make informed decisions. Dick is the editor. Sharon is the publisher.
When this site was launched Dick and Sharon did most of the writing. Today, a host of gifted writers contribute to the LA Progressive’s daily offering which typically amounts to 45 articles a week. Dick and Sharon continue to write as well as edit and publish. The LA Progressive newsletter is distributed every morning.
Originally from Minneapolis and New York respectively, the couple has a blended family of four children (Raheem, Wade, Deva, and Linnea), two children-in-law (Dan and Yoko), one very beautiful granddaughter, and a host of pets.
Both have been progressive activists and anti-racists for more than 30 years, each supporting progressive causes in their own way. By profession, Dick is a long time publisher and Sharon, who holds a Juris Doctor, is an adjunct professor of law.
The couple has received numerous honors and awards since launching the LA Progressive including being named the Democratic Man and Woman of the Year by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, receiving the Badge of Courage Award from Valley Democrats United, and being a designated newsletter of Excellence by Constant Contact.
Dick and Sharon can be heard from time to time on talk radio shows like Mario Solis-Marich’s DiverseLA on KTLK 1150 am in Southern California and Sharon has made guest appearances as a pundit on Cenk Uygur’s “The Point”.

The LA Progressive — A No Fluff Zone
The LA Progressive began as an online magazine for progressives living in and around Los Angeles but it quickly gained attention well beyond Los Angeles. So, today, we publish reports and comment on issues of political, social, and cultural consequence to progressives everywhere. Our articles advocate progressive positions and policies but conservatives are also welcome to read and comment. But if you are looking for a fight, you’ve come to the wrong place. Only civil discourse is permitted. Want celebrity gossip or a peek at side boobs — again you’ve come to the wrong place. The LA Progressive exists to provide a means of expressing progressive viewpoints and to champion the causes that promote the betterment of society particularly the lives of the dispossessed and powerless. But we have a sister publication, the Hollywood Progressive. Check it out if you’re interested in learning about progressive activism in the Hollywood community.
