Barbara Kastelein

Barbara Kastelein is an author, independent journalist and travel writer. She worked in Mexico City for The Mexico City Times and the Toronto Star and then covered the environment in Mexico for the Bureau of National Affairs in Washington. She has contributed articles to outlets including the Boston Globe, the Houston Chronicle, The Times of London, The Observer, The Daily Telegraph, Travesias and Gato Pardo magazines, as well as freelanced for the BBC and South America’s TV Globo. Her writing has been included in academic collections on the anthropology of tourism -- her expertise in this field being Mexico, with a focus on the historic beach resort of Acapulco and its iconic cliff diver community. Her books include “Mexico Chic” and the forthcoming “Heroes of the Pacific: The Untold Story of Acapulco’s Cliff Divers.”
