Cathy Deppe: The Japanese peace movement delivered more than 6 million signatures from all over Japan, calling for an international convention for the abolishment of all nuclear weapons.
A retired teacher and lifelong peace and justice activist, Cathy Deppe co-coordinated the Dutchess County (NY) Peace Center, an affiliate of the War Resisters League, from 1980-1994. Since 1994 she has co-founded two California chapters of 9to5, National Association of Working Women (9to5.org) and currently serves as co-treasurer of the Southern CA War Tax Resistance Alternative Fund (scwtr.net) and board member of the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Council (nwtrcc.org). She has a Masters in Secondary Education from Duke, is married with 4 grandchildren, and lives in Los Angeles.
