Donnie Maclurcan: Right now we’re facing a supply and demand nightmare: workers and employers want to produce, but buyers cannot consume because social distancing is needed of us all.
Donnie Maclurcan is an Affiliate Professor of Economics at Southern Oregon University and Executive Director of the Post Growth Institute – an international, not-for-profit organization helping facilitate the shift to a truly sustainable future. His research interests span alternative forms of business ownership; credit unions, debt and financial flows; not-for-profit entrepreneurship; asset-based community development; and appropriate technology. As a consultant, Donnie has helped more than 450 not-for-profit projects start, scale and sustain their work, while his own initiatives include the Offers and Needs Market, Free Money Day, the Post Growth Alliance, and the (En)Rich List. A Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, Distinguished Fellow with the U.K. Schumacher Institute for Sustainable Systems, and an Associate with the Australian-based Institute for Sustainable Futures, Donnie holds a PhD in international development from the University of Technology, Sydney and is working on his fourth book, How on Earth: our future is not-for-profit.
