Greg Cusack: Early in his adult life heI was a college teacher of American history and political science, but this full-time profession first morphed into half-time, and then no-time, as he became more deeply involved in elected and appointed political positions. He was elected to his hometown's city council (Davenport, Iowa) at 26 and then to the Iowa House of Representatives in 1970, where he served for nine years. After five subsequent years as exec director of the National Catholic Rural Life Conference, he became a pension manager at the Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System in Des Moines, Iowa from which he retired in 2004. Since then he has continued to read widely and deeply, and has also enjoyed over 100 courses from The Teaching Company. He has been privileged to have several dozen opinion pieces and book reviews published in The Shanghai Daily since 2009
