La Mikia Castillo
La Mikia Castillo is the National Organizing Director of the National Foster Youth Institute. She joined the NFYI team in 2015 and is leading the organization’s efforts to build a national movement that will transform the child welfare system. Her passion for and commitment to improving outcomes for foster youth stem from her personal experiences growing up in a family with foster and adopted children. La Mikia is an alumna of the USC Sol Price School where she received dual masters degrees in Public Policy and Urban Planning, and Certificates in Public Management and Political Management. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, San Diego with double majors in Ethnic Studies and Urban Studies & Planning. Her personal life experiences and faith encourage her passion for seeking justice and promoting policy changes that will make it possible for all children to thrive. She is a member of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles.
