Rachel Bruhnke
Rachel Bruhnke has been active in the Latin American solidarity and Peace movements since the 1980's. She earned a B.A in Political Science from CSLULB, and an M.S. in Environmental Resource Engineering from Humboldt State University, researching Cuba's energy transition after the breakup of the Soviet Union. She was Eco-Cuba coordinator at Global Exchange and has lived and travelled widely in Latin America including 3 years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Honduras. She founded the Cold War Truth Commission in 2017 as an effort to hold the US accountable for a century of illegality, at home and abroad, in the right wing's crusade against "godless communism". Rachel is active with CodePink, started the LA Harbor Peace Week to combat the military's "LA Fleet Week", and was a candidate for the California State Assembly in 2018 with the Green Party. She teaches high school students, whose values, dreams and energy inspire her daily. She lives with her partner and daughter on an urban farm (FB: Harbor Farms San Pedro).
