Steven Singer: This week as 30,000 teachers at Los Angeles Unified School District walked out demanding support for their students and their professions, a few slimy worms have crossed the picket line to keep some of the district’s 900 schools open.
Steven Singer: Stephen Paddock’s killing spree last night in Las Vegas will not change anything – except the bottom line for numerous gun manufacturers. Ca-ching, people!
Steven Singer: During my lifetime, people started to equate having a black President with the end of racism. Somehow they ignored the everyday reality for most black people.
Steven Singer: The Democratic Party is all but dead now. Trump will walk into a second term in 2020 – no matter how terrible he continues to be between now and then.
Steven Singer: Some schools would thrive but most would fail – just like in business, athletics or other competitive pursuits. And while these fledgling schools struggle to make ends meet, predators will be waiting in the wings to benefit from their failure.
Steve Singer: The people were crying out for a populist champion. We had one in Bernie Sanders. He would have destroyed Trump, but we blew it.
Steven Singer: The Clinton fear machine has us all convinced that the second he gets into office he’ll be launching nukes, rounding up undesirables and opening concentration camps.
Steven Singer: I love all of my kids and try to relate to them. But I’d be fooling myself if I thought my culture and complexion didn’t sometimes stand between us. More Black Teachers Needed
Steven Singer: In Arizona, lines stretched literally for miles. People actually ordered pizza to be delivered to them IN LINE!
Steven Singer: When thousands of these Muslims, Latinos, women, black people, etc. showed up at his rally in Chicago last night, Trump took a bold stance… and ran away.
Steven Singer: That’s right – the 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate who has been endorsed by the leaders of the national teachers unions has a corporate education reformer running her campaign.
Steven Singer: Is it really so surprising that poor schools can’t pay their bills? We force them to make ends meet by relying heavily on taxes from local residents – most of whom are dead broke!
Steven Singer: What a bunch of cowards we are if we don’t demand police publicly explain themselves when they kill another human being – especially someone who posed them no bodily harm!
