These past two weeks have been extremely difficult for me. During dark periods of rage and anger, it could have been feasible that the skills and training I mastered during my tour in the military may have involuntarily kicked in. Part of me was waiting for the "Arab Spring" to materialize in Washington whereas we, the people, would once again take back control of "our" government.

That would not happen. I truly was in crisis mode and wondered how many other combat veterans like me found themselves in the same situation. Due to the government shutdown, I was not able to see my V.A. psychologist. To protect myself I began searching for legal ways to prevent this madness from happening again.

The politicians have already implemented damage control to deflect any personal responsibility from themselves. That bastion of morality, adulterer Newt Gingrich, stated on CNN, "(Americans) should not point the finger of blame at the was President Obama that was disengaged and refused to negotiate..."

Gingrich, once again, has selective memory and seems to forget the Democrats demeaned themselves for over six months groveling at the feet of the Speaker of the House, John Boehner, begging for negotiations that never happened.

Negotiations could not happen and were doomed from the onset. On Inauguration night 2009, conservative Republicans conducted a secret meeting in which they outlined a plan to discredit and destroy the president at any cost. This action was a direct cause of the near default of 2011 in which President Obama caved into Republican demands to raise the debt ceiling and pay the bills Congress racked up but were willing to default on in an attempt to make Obama the first president in U.S. history to suffer such an indignity.

Unfortunately, the President rewarded the Republican extortion and agreed to their demands. Boehner then gloated to the press, "I got 98% of what I wanted." This set the stage for the latest Republican idiotic activities. Like their German counterparts of the 1930s, they were willing to burn the government (Reichstag) to the ground. And similar to the 1930s where Jews were successfully blamed for all the economic ills of Germany; in America of 2013, tea bagging Republicans have blamed "tax-sucking blacks" supported by a "black Muslim president of foreign origin."

Remember the veterans' protest just a few days ago that was hijacked by the tea baggers? Palin and company were once again talking about "impeaching the president" and how he was really a "Muslim" who did "not support U.S. law or the Constitution." This same group blames the economic ills of the United States on (people of color) "on welfare" neglecting the fact that the vast majority of individuals on public assistance are white.

Worse yet, this same faction portrays corporate welfare as something "godly" and "patriotic." It was only natural for some extremist to wave a Confederate flag at the White House. How they long for the good old days when uppidy black people could be lynched in public and acquitted by a "jury of their peers!"

This unnecessary Republican-induced shutdown has cost the tax payer billions of dollars; but, the Republicans keep reminding us they are the party dedicated to fiscal responsibility. For the past six months, the Speaker of the House has refused to allow any negotiations with the President or Senate; now, the American public is being constantly told it is the Republicans who champion negotiations; yet, under Boehner's (lack of) leadership, no legislation of any significance has been passed in the House. In fact Republicans have killed all farm, transportation, jobs, housing bills.

Scott Garrett (R-NJ) justifies the shut down and stated "Republicans got a bad rap...because of the (liberal) press..."

Matt Kibbe, president/CEO of Freedom Works, condemned Republicans who voted to re-open the government. "Republicans failed to stand firm..." and vowed to continue the fight through the next election. Kibbe was opposed to working on, improving, or modifying "Obamacare". The new Republican norm is no negotiations and if they can't get what they want, they will use any terrorist tactic to achieve their goals.

The Chinese are exactly correct when they point out to the rest of the world that these types of people cannot be trusted to dictate global economic policy. Republican actions have weakened the position of the President and the United States. Come 15 January, tea baggers are getting poised to do this yet once again as this has become the permanent way of doing business in Washington.

Today, I overheard some tea baggers in Shelby County, Alabama. Here in LaLa Land, Ted Cruz is a hero. Republicans who voted to open the government are traitors as they "agreed to provisions that allow Obama, by executive order, to make or repeal laws..." Of course this is far from the truth; but, this is the new racist line of thinking. And it naturally led to someone stating that "perhaps someone should kill the president before Sharia law is forced on us." At this point I went to my vehicle and drove away.

This insanity, ignorance, stupidity must be stopped. We can no longer stand helplessly on the sidelines while a handful of people destroy our Republic. "Obamacare" is not a bill but a LAW duly voted on by the House and Senate, and signed by the President, then reviewed by the highest court in the land, and was a major campaign issue during the last election. Title 18, Section 2384 clearly states: "...if two or more persons in any state...prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States...they shall each be fined not more than $20,000 or be imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both..."

It is time to stop the insanity. Give these tea baggers their day in court! They have violated the law and must be held accountable unless, yet once again, justice means "just us" and we fall back onto a system where there are laws for the privileged and then laws for the rest of us.
