Have you ever eaten a genetically modified organism? If you shop at a grocery store, chances are that you have. Reports indicate that 70-75% of our food in grocery stores contains a genetically engineered ingredient. I had never heard about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) until two years ago. Upon reading scientific studies that showed animals that were given GMO food on a regular basis developed cancer, tumors, lesions, obesity, and infertility problems, I was left shocked. I also discovered that GMO food was contaminating our environment affecting natural plants and killing insects and animals.
Then when I discovered how this unhealthy and unsafe food got into our food supply, I felt betrayed by our government and the USDA. The institution that I had trusted to regulate the safety in the food I ate had failed me as a result of corruption. I lost trust in my leaders who were supposed to look out for the best interest of the people but sold the people out as a result of their own hunger for power and greed by supporting corporations. I felt hopeless until I came to my moment of clarity, when the collective unconscious unfolded its plan of balance before me. Genetically Modified Foods was another force shifting humanity to evolve from being codependent to interdependent allowing individuals to choose self-consciousness.
How did I shift my perception from feeling betrayed to taking my power back? Let’s start at the beginning. Two years ago my friend showed me a documentary called “The Future of Food” by Deborah Koons Garcia. The documentary illustrated the harmful effects of eating GMO food, how farmers were losing their farms as a result of Genetic contamination, the science behind how GMO food was created, how and why this dangerous food was not being regulated by our government, and what key government leaders had connections to the corporation that created GMO food which had allowed GMO food being introduced into our food supply. I found out that the corporation behind this environmental and food monstrosity was Monsanto, a chemical company.
Of course I wanted to research this information for myself so I took one month to look into the facts. After reading “Seeds of Deception” and “Genetic Roulette” by Jeffrey M. Smith and after reviewing independent scientific studies from around the world, there were only more horrifying facts to be found. My conclusion was that when power and greed are the motives for corporations and government leaders, the result brings harm to the people that trust them. These leaders are spiritually and morally sick. Time and time again, our leaders had sold us out. They used the their power and marketed grand illusions manipulating the minds of the people including myself. My fault is that I had blindly handed the power of my life over to them; I had become codependent on my government. This truth pill was hard to swallow but once accepted opened up a new reality for me to see.
The truth is, we have grown up in a society that has a dysfunctional codependent system. Most of the time people think that codependency means that you are in a relationship with someone who has an addiction. The reality is that codependency exists almost everywhere; in fact it is present in an estimated 98% of the adult population. That means that 98% of our society is living in suffering.Codependency is when you are expecting or depending on your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs from everything outside of you. When you are depending on something or someone else to take responsibility for your life. It is present in our government and political structure, the economy, religious organizations, healthcare and more. It’s the result of a dominator society.
In her The Chalice and the Blade, Riane Eisler looks at two basic relationship models called the “dominator” and “partnership” models. We can clearly see through these two models how our society is the dominator model leaving a codependent structure. Dr. Barry and Janae Weinshold explain the codependency structure in Breaking Free of the Co-dependency Trap:
“ We can see that the causes of co-dependency go right to the heart of our social structure. Any system which members are not encouraged to be self-reliant, self-directed, and individually responsible creates passive people who are apathetic, helpless, fearful, and unable to implement the changes that need to be made in the culture. And it’s still a major problem in our Democratic society today. Our systematic orientation to the Dominator model remains a basic obstacle to both personal and social health.”
Let me explain how this dominator codependent model exists in the United States Department of Health. The USDA takes on the dominator or authoritarian role. They tell the US citizens to place the food safety in their hands. They also tell other countries that they are regulating their corporations to ensure food safety. We the people hand over our security to this dominating power. Unfortunately the dominating power fails to provide food safety because after all, they are also human and dysfunctional, so they lie and betray the people’s trust.
We the people are left angry, hurt, and unable to trust our leaders the appointed authority. The result is a system that stops working leaving everyone involved broken. When this realization that the system is broke enters an individuals consciousness there are two choices left. Give up, or move in a new direction that creates self-consciousness evolving our society away from this dysfunctional codependent structure.
What happened for me is that I redirected my anger towards purposeful action and forgave those leaders realizing that they were also stuck in this codependent model. I took my power back and took the responsibility for ensuring that I chose safe foods instead of depending on the government. I purchase food that is non-GMO. I grow my own food. I support groups, organizations, and corporations that do not support GMO food and try to establish an interdependent model with those organizations. I research politicians and support the few left who are willing to take a stand for the American people.
I took my power back and I make safe food decisions for me. Genetically Modified Foods are forcing people to look at the truth, it forced me to look at the truth. It will be forced because people will either get sick or die or others will hear the truth and be forced to stop the codependent need we have on the system. I accept that some people will choose to stay behind in the dysfunctional chaos living in the illusion. Others will take their power back and will work towards creating a functional interdependent system and self-consciousness.
Some say that humanity is on a fast track to destruction with the wars, failing economy, environmental crisis, and now Genetically Engineered Foods. I say that the Collective Unconscious is forcing humanity to wake up. When I found out about GMO food it made me stop depending on others to take care of my food safety and health, and forced me to take care of myself and support corporations that practiced the same principles that I had.
I was forced to stop depending on the media to inform me, and started informing others and myself while choosing to support those that told the facts and not fiction. I was forced to look within and find my spirit to have faith that despite the outside conditions, I would survive if I started to take full responsibility for my life. I was forced to forgive those that had failed me understanding that they too were living in suffering.
Today what I can do is be a light that shines bright to those that seek the truth. Have compassion for my fellows who are lost and can’t find their way. Guide the misguided to live a life filled with truth, integrity, honor and compassion by being an example. Lastly I can pray for those that are blinded by the darkness. Today I honor my spirit and the collective unconscious with the choices I make. Today I choose to have patience as the rest of my fellows evolve into self-consciousness, and strive to create a new community by uniting with those that are awake.
