Each week, the editor’s of LA Progressive pick what they regard as a particularly insightful comment from one of our readers, both to draw attention to one particular reader’s thoughts and to encourage more readers to weigh in with their opinions. This week’s pithy “Feedback Friday” response comes from regular LA Progressive contributor Tom Hall, who commented on David A. Love’s “Is Trump Throwing the Game to Escape Impeachment?“
Impeachment? For what? We don’t like Republicans lying and selling their souls to corporate donors. We don’t like the Donald’s butt ignorance, clear unapologetic racism, and his misogyny.
But we do like our Constitution, which sets the standards for impeachment. Has the Donald satisfied any standard yet?
Lying isn’t an impeachable offence. Neither is racism. Getting a blow job is an impeachable offence. Do we have any evidence of the Donald suckeeding in that area?
Being odious, incompetent, ignorant, very rich, physically unattractive, even mentally ill, have never been grounds for impeachment.
I suggest leaving impeachment talk to the Republicans, at least until there is clear and convincing evidence that the Donald has gone beyond, bigoted, beyond mental ill, beyond stupendous ignorance.
Let the Donald stay in place, doing things that the Republicans will have to OWN in the 2018 election cycle. Things like RYANCARE – NOT Trumpcare. Put the blame where it belongs, where it will have lasting impact even after the Donald is GONE.
