Award-winning broadcaster Tavis Smiley and Cornel West, one of the nation’s leading intellectuals are touring the country addressing the issue of rising poverty in the United States.

Smiley West Book Tour

The dynamic pair will be in Los Angeles on April 15th as part of their book tour, "The Rich and The Rest of Us: A Poverty Manifesto Book Tour". Smiley and West who also host a radio show of the same name challenge us to examine our assumptions about poverty in America – what it really is and how to eliminate it.

Presented by KPFK 90.7. Tavis Smiley and Cornel West will discuss record unemployment and rampant corporate avarice, empty houses and homeless families, dwindling opportunities in a paralyzed nation—the realities of America, land of the free and home of the new middle class poor. They take on the “p” word—poverty. Event start time 4:00pm (Doors will open at 2:30pm).
