PREACHER’S SONS is an intimate, provocative documentary filmed by Neighborhood Church’s C Reed and Mark Nealey. It is the story of Rev. Greg Stewart, his wisecracking husband Stillman, and their five sons, children of color, adopted from foster care. In a risky, emotionally charged five-year odyssey through the American heartland, they learn that, when it comes to racism and homophobia, where you live determines how you live.
Viewers will see the boys grow, in size and in character. This documentary offers proof that the measure of a family is not the race or sexual orientation of parents or children, but rather the love and commitment that bind them all together.
Please join us for this free event in Neighborhood Church’s Sanctuary at 3 pm on Sunday, October 13, for the second installment of “Social Justice Filmmakers of Neighborhood.” Refreshments will be served and copies of the documentary will be available for purchase. As a special bonus, a panel of adoption experts and Preacher’s Sons filmmaker C Reed will discuss legal and ethical issues and answer questions following the 90-minute film.
