This past May, certain “patriot” groups tried to launch Operation American Spring. The opening gun was:
TO: Patriots (black, white, red, yellow, brown, male, female, civilian, military, truckers, bikers, militias, veterans, old, young, every American that loves freedom and liberty)
Mission: Restoration of Constitutional government, rule of law, freedom, liberty "of the people, by the people, for the people" from despotic and tyrannical federal leadership.
Assumptions: Millions of Americans will participate.
American veterans and patriots are energized to end the tyranny, lawlessness, and shredding of the US Constitution.
Government is not the target, it is sound; corrupt and criminal leadership must be replaced.
Those in power could use force against unarmed, peaceful patriots exercising their constitutional rights.
Patriots could be harmed, but not expected.
There is no hope given today’s technology of secrecy for the effort nor do we want it secret.
The Movement was to proceed in three phases:
Concept of Operations:
Phase 1 - Field millions, as many as ten million, patriots who will assemble in a peaceful, non-violent, physically unarmed (Spiritually/Constitutionally armed), display of unswerving loyalty to the US Constitution and against the incumbent government leadership in Washington D.C., with the mission to replace with law abiding leadership. Go full-bore, no looking back, steadfast in the mission.
Phase 2 - One million or more of the assembled 10 million must be prepared to stay in D.C. as long as it takes to see Obama, Biden, Reid, McConnell, Boehner, Pelosi, and Attorney General Holder removed from office.
Consistent with the US Constitution, as required, the U.S. Congress will take appropriate action, execute appropriate legislation, deal with vacancies, or U.S. States will appoint replacements for positions vacated consistent with established constitutional requirements.
Phase 3 - Those with the principles of a West, Cruz, Dr. Ben Carson, Lee, DeMint, Paul, Gov Walker, Sessions, Gowdy, Jordan, should comprise a tribunal and assume positions of authority to convene investigations, recommend appropriate charges against politicians and government employees to the new U.S. Attorney General appointed by the new President.
*All actions in Phase 2 & 3 will be consistent with the U.S. Constitution.
You may not have heard about any of this, which is no surprise. The effort to oust everyone from President Obama to John Boehner from office fell very, very flat. There were supposed to be a million people there, and the optimists projected 10 to 30 (!) million, but in the end the total was in the hundreds, if that.
(Bet you didn't realize that the initials for this organization (“OAS”) is the same as that of one of the most despised right-wing terrorist organizations in history – the Secret Army Organization (“OAS” -- organisation de l'Armee Secrete) that terrorized France in the early 60's. Read Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth for more on that)). So – suppose progressives wanted to try a similar maneuver. Not to oust anyone from office, mind you, but to make a statement and show that the country is mad as hell and won't take it anymore?
I would personally love to use the title, “American Spring,” because it harkens to the “Arab Spring” of 2012. But the failure of the right-wing version maybe tells us that a different title should be chosen. How about “Take Back Our Country!” or “Bring Back Democracy”
We could start by picking a day: how about April 4, 2015? A good spring day across the country, possibly. The date is a good one: it was the day that Martin Luther King died and it's Holy Saturday, just before Easter. So the day would have instant appeal because it honors a great American leader, and it would certainly be possible to make references to the holy resurrection the next day and the fact that Christ would probably have favored such things as income equality, ending government corruption, and saving the planet. How about gun control, too? The idea is to choose broad topics – getting people out of their narrow silos and into a broader movement.

The title is open, and suggestions are welcome.
What sort of issues? Select five burning issues that really affect the lives of Americans everywhere. Climate change, for one. Ending electoral corruption from Citizens United and its ilk. Boosting income equality. Healthcare. Immigration. And on and on. Pick subjects that have popular appeal and where change would be meaningful.
But here's the way to avoid the misfortunes of Operation American Spring. Don't try to get a big demonstration in one city. Try to get demonstrations all over the United States. Big cities and small, villages and towns. The demonstrations would all start at the same time: 1 pm on the East Coast, noon and 11 am in the Heartland, and 10 am on the West Coast. All the demonstrators would carry the same major signs. (The signs would be designed by a central group and the demonstrators would print their own). This sort of coordination would make it obvious that all the demonstrations were part of a national movement. And it would be very, very difficult for the media to ignore what was happening, because even the local media could cover it.
So who would like to start working on this? Who has a great database of organizations that would like to read this message? Americans, unite. You have nothing to lose whatsoever.
