BUY AMERICAN HIRE AMERICAN,” said the sign a middle-aged, goateed white guy waved at the Trump rally in Grand Rapids.

Trump Bigot

On stage behind the president, he also sported a gold braided red MAGA hat and yelled “lock ‘em up!” when Trump named his enemies: “All of the Democrat politicians, the media bosses, bad people. ... crooked journalists, the totally dishonest TV pundits. ... And all the current and former officials who paid for, promoted, and perpetuated the single greatest hoax in the history of politics in our country.”

A ton of Trump products are still made in China and other cheap labor countries. He’s hired—and fired—several undocumented foreign workers at his golf courses and other properties, according to media reports.

Anyway, at the rally, Trump bragged on how rich and smart he is.

Maybe the the furry-faced white guy is a well-heeled college grad. I’d bet he’s not because when Trump’s on the stump he likes to have working stiffs standing over his shoulder whooping it up on cue.

I’m a white-haired retired working stiff who still packs a union card. Hogs will fly and kids will quit shooting hoops in my native Kentucky before I’d vote for Trump.

Even so, Trump carried my state and my county in blowouts.

I still don’t get working stiffs, including some union members, who keep voting for scammers like Trump.

You’d think it would be mission impossible to get people to vote against their livelihoods. But with a lot of white folks who live a long way from Easy Street, it’s been mission accomplished.

In the presidential election post mortem, much of the media—even much of the “liberal media” — said economic anxiety caused so many blue collar white voters to jump on the Trump train.

Trump loyalists know he can’t build the wall; they just like hearing him say it, I heard a reporter observe on TV.

I suspect that they also know he can’t “Make America Great Again,” meaning bring back an America run by straight, white, Protestant men.
