Republicants want America to live up to their moral standards. Unfortunately their standards tend to be very intolerant – they believe everyone must be of their religion, no one can have sex, and that society should kill those who do not believe what they want. Their most recent attack on American women is on Planned Parenthood.
Now understand this – I am in favor of life. I abhor abortion and unlike the Christian Republicant hypocrites, I also abhor the death penalty. I favor life over the entire life course. The Republicant House Speaker Boehner today is attacking Planned Parenthood once again. As the parent of an adopted child I get the issue of planning parenthood. The issue I have is not with those who seek to help people to not get pregnant, STD’s or vaginal cancer, it is with those stupid people that believe that parents will actually talk with their children about sex. I hear all the time about how this is the job of the parent. But here is the question of the day: What do you do when the parents will not or cannot do the job they were authorized to do?
According to reliable sources in Woodland, California, children who are not mentally capable of consenting to sex are being raped and of course because of the “religious” issues of their families and communities are having children of their own. The rapes go on without investigation or concern. Their parents don’t have the resources to deal with these issues other than Planned Parenthood. Let us get this straight, Planned Parenthood DOESN’T perform abortions, doctors perform abortions.
I am not going to get into the discussion that I think belongs between a patient and a doctor. I leave this to the hypocrites who want, like all radical religious folks, to force their beliefs on those who don’t want them. (I personally like the idea of taking all the Christian radicals and all the Muslim radicals and all the Jewish radicals and putting them on the same island with one chicken.)
So what does PP do? Here is their mission statement:
“Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual’s income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence. We believe that respect and value for diversity in all aspects of our organization are essential to our well-being. We believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual’s right to privacy. We further believe that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life and strong family relationships.”
Without Planned Parenthood, it is estimated that tens of thousands of women in the United States and millions of women outside of the US will be without the ability to manage their reproductive health.
I am also wondering why is it that all the women and men who fought so hard to get rights and fight the so called (white) man’s glass ceiling are so quiet about the attack on Planned Parenthood. If Republicants allow Planned Parenthood to go down, they and all those who remain quiet are responsible for the deaths of women from backstreet abortions and the millions of unwanted children who will end up on the streets homeless at age 15.
Come on Boner, 50% of men now are infected with HPV, can you not see that boys and girls of all ages need to get the ability to fight disease as well as figuring out how to not get pregnant? Surely, Boner, even you can see that mentally disabled women are entitled to go and see a doctor without their priest, rabbi, minister or imam knowing? Or maybe you really do want to rewrite the Constitution so that we no longer have a right to privacy and while we are at it amend it to make us a Christian nation and make church and state the same much like Iran.
