Unfortunately protesting is not enough. There is a group called Justice Democrats who are recruiting new people who do not take corporate or wealthy donor money to run in elections. They have successfully elected Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who was previously a Bernie Sanders campaign organizer before she ran for Congress. Against all odds she won.
You need to take the next step and run candidates for LA County and other local elections.
I suggest that Black Lives Matter look at the Justice Democrats Model and consider implementing it. You need to take the next step and run candidates for LA County and other local elections from school board, city councils, state legislators to contest elected officials like Jackie Lacey. The problem is bigger than Jackie Lacey it is a systematic problem with law enforcement and elected officials. Also legislation needs to be passed to change the laws to this oppressive system.
