Each week, the editor’s of LA Progressive pick what they regard as a particularly insightful comment from one of our readers, both to draw attention to one particular reader’s thoughts and to encourage more readers to weigh in with their opinions. This week’s pithy response comes from Brandon, one of the many readers commenting on Richard Behan's Installing a President by Force: Hillary Clinton and Our Moribund Democracy.
The problem with the criminal Hilary narrative is that it makes the assumption she is equal to men. Women do not have equal rights in this country. The country has been and continues to be run by white, “Christian” males. Playing in “man’s” game a woman has to keep her nose extra clean. That is why it was no surprise that the FBI didn’t find anything she could be charged with (especially since the investigation was not brought on by the AG or the Police or any authority except to investigate a Federal employees regarding Federal property.) 50+ Bengzhi committees paid for by our tax dollars also didn’t find anything.
Like it or not, admit it or not, we have been CONDITIONED by the media to distrust her and hate her. Some do it out of mysoginy, but a lot do it out of falling prey to the 25 year long smear campaign.
It is interesting to note that the media have to use headlines based solely on the their opinionated rhetoric to attack Clinton. However, in stark contrast all you do is record Trump and play it back to attack him. So we perceive failure in Clinton and witness first hand the failures of Trump.
If you wanted to wax conspiracy, then consider this: with all the mysoginy and chauvinism in the USA, the only way we would consider a female president….would be if her opponent were so shockingly bad that we would be compelled to vote for her.
