Each week, LA Progressive’s editors pick what they regard as a particularly insightful comment from one of our readers, both to draw attention to one particular reader’s thoughts and to encourage more readers to weigh in with their opinions. This week’s pithy "Feedback Friday" response comes from Luis Lozano, who commented on the article by Ted Rall, "The Russia-Trump Conspiracy Theory Is a Dead Letter: Here’s Why
If the opposition party, the Dems, don’t win overwhelmingly in November then this will be an exercise in futility for Dems and the Mueller investigation. Trump will have to be caught pants down raping a child in his bedroom for his followers to stop supporting him and then again maybe they won’t. I’m sure there was Russian involvement in our elections but there may have been involvement by other governments and by by people in this country too.

I will even say some of that involvement was criminal in nature. Remember that our own Republican party sided with Netanyahu from Israel against President Obama while he was negotiating with Iran. Netanyahu deliberately and openly lobbied Congress against the deal. That is interference. Our own sordid record of overthrowing governments notwithstanding does not justify any interference in our elections but morally we don’t have a leg to stand on when we protest alleged Russian involvement.
If the aim of the resistance is to remove Trump from office, the only legal way to do this is through impeachment or he resigns or is deemed to be incapacitated and incapable of carrying out his duties. I don’t wish anyone harm regardless of the harm they may be causing this nation or me personally. I also know that removing him without also undoing his damage and changing the system that allowed him to come to this point is an exercise in futility. We’re in a nightmare and the only way out is to wake up now.
