Each week, LA Progressive’s editors pick what they regard as a particularly insightful comment from one of our readers, both to draw attention to one particular reader’s thoughts and to encourage more readers to weigh in with their opinions. This week’s pithy "Feedback Friday" response comes from Wes King, who commented on the article by Lila Garrett, ""A Memorial Day We May Never Forget"
Lila – You offer a withering analysis that is largely right on the mark. The only mistaken assessment is the assertion that the President of Russia is “a friend and supporter” of our current President. This is a fallacy created, largely, by institutional media (with support of the same warmongering forces in league with the Boltons and enabled by 45). Other than that, however, you hit every note.
Perhaps the “gift” of 45 is that he doesn’t hide intentions in smooth, silvery-tongued rhetoric of an Obama (or Clinton) or the folksy “aw shucks” Texas drawl of GW Bush.
Perhaps the “gift” of 45 is that he doesn’t hide intentions in smooth, silvery-tongued rhetoric of an Obama (or Clinton) or the folksy “aw shucks” Texas drawl of GW Bush. All three of these…predecessors to 45…engaged in the ever expanding hyper-militarism that is served to us by 45 with his more “in your face” NY brashness.
Insomuch as we cannot any longer delude ourselves that these ugly realities do not exist, we face, as a people, a fairly stark choice.
Do we just “roll over” and continue to assent to pro-war leaders? Or do we make a clear and definitive break and say “NO”, emphatically. 2020 election will be another test case for this, so far as Presidential politics is concerned.
We have clear choices to make…assuming we can make them freely without overweening manipulation by nefarious elements well within our borders (and very far from any foreign capital). We must face this…one way or the other.
Happy Memorial Day to all…a great time to reflect on exactly what the costs of foolish warmongering are…clear and present.
