Each week, LA Progressive’s editors pick what they regard as a particularly insightful comment from one of our readers, both to draw attention to one particular reader’s thoughts and to encourage more readers to weigh in with their opinions. This week’s pithy "Feedback Friday" response comes from occasional LA Progressive author Adam Eran, who commented on the article by Walter G. Moss, ""Why Values Matter: Obama’s Empathy Versus Trump’s Egoism"

Boy, I’ll just have to disagree here. Obama is a moral null set. He is an empty suit. Sure, Trump is an embarrassment, but without Clinton to legitimize sexual predation, and Obama to legitimize criminality, he’s simply not possible. There’s a reason voters selected a candidate “with their middle finger.”

In what’s arguably the largest theft in human history–the subprime/derivatives meltdown–Obama could have chosen to be FDR. He apparently preferred Caspar Milquetoast.

The hollow (but smoothly persuasive) Obama administration not only did not prosecute Bush / Cheney for their war crimes, they promoted the torturers and prosecuted the whistleblowers. So yes, Trump is a psychotic embarrassment who can’t open his mouth without sticking his foot in it, but trying to resurrect Obama as anything but an abject failure…that’s a bridge too far.

Heck, three days into his administration, Obama was already authorizing drone strikes. When Don Corleone orders a hit, he does so without the benefit of due process, a jury, an attorney…Nothing! What’s the difference when Obama orders a hit? (Obama himself was uneasy about the lack of due process…but continued with the murders.

As Ilhan Omar said: Obama was a pretty face who got away with murder. Voters (correctly) rejected the Republican establishment in selecting Trump, but the Democrats were too clever to elect someone who could win. They preferred a coronation to the kind of democracy that includes dissent. Heck, Bernie had to sue the DNC to get their voter lists. The fix was in. As Bernie himself said: Democrats would rather book a first class cabin on the Titanic than make a successful crossing. And this presidential election proves the Democrats have forgotten nothing…and learned nothing.
