Ever tried to figure out how successful people got to that level? What makes them so effective? Business coach Brian Dalmaso says there’s a common link between all of the great leaders. Let’s delve.

Brian asks the readers what is the one thing that successful leaders do differently than the rest?

He shares, “Chances are that you perhaps did not even pause for a minute to give the above question a thought because you are probably too busy. You may have got a few other things to check off your list like reading emails, making a call, or two. And at the end of the day, you will measure success by how many things you finished, no? But that’s where you’re off—and that’s what great leaders are aware of. They know that it is crucial to have a regular habit of taking time to reflect on their actions." Brian further explains that this is important to be successful in any field, as success is nothing but one’s ability to use his mind and body well.

In the process of taking time to reflect on one’s actions, the person gets into a mode of maintaining a nonjudgmental state of heightened or complete awareness of his thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis.

Taking time to reflect, Brian Dalmaso shares, allows a person to keep his own perception or judgements aside and observe the situation the way it is. One starts to become aware of his own thoughts and feelings—his inner state of being. Once he becomes aware of his internal conflicts, he can choose to shift from compulsive reactions to thoughtful responses. Brian concludes that such a state is paramount to success. It helps a person make effective decisions. After all, success boils down to a series of mindful decisions.
