When we face new weather patterns for few decades, we come to an agreement that earth’s climate has changed. Climate has changed all through the history. Going back 650,000 years we can notice seven climate cycles of glacial proceed and withdraw. The end of the last ice age was just around 7000 years ago, beginning the era of human civilization. Most of the changes in the past had been due to the small changes in earth’s orbit and sun light earth receives.

The comparison of atmospheric samples contained in ice cores and recent direct measurement shows that carbon dioxide has increased at an alarming level. The reason for this is said to be the industrial revolution. Below image shows how the level has changed after 1950.

The current climate warming is the result of human activity and it is increasing at an alarming rate that has never been found in the past. With the advancement in technology, scientists have gathered data on our planet and its climate. Satellites have provided most of the help, it enabled scientists to gathered data on climate for many years. Collected data is then studied, analyzed to see the patterns on changes in climate.

The study of Ice cores from Antarctica and tropical mountain uncovered the evidence that earths climate is changed due to change in greenhouse gasses. This also revealed that earths atmosphere is warming up ten times faster than average rate of ice ag recovery warming.

Leaders of the world are now concerned about the earth atmosphere and wants to take rapid action against global warming. There are plenty of prominent women leading the way too like Jessica Alba and Jacinda Ardern. The prime minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern wearing a nice Rolex womens watch, has recently spoken in the "Safeguarding the planet" session at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. She highlighted the scale and urgency of global action needed in the face of a rapidly warming world.

Climate Changes

The evidence of warming is captivating and we need to take serious steps to protect our earth’s climate. The average surface temperature has increased by 1.62 degrees since the late 19th century with 2016 was the warmest year on the record. Ocean has also absorbed the heat; top 700 meters of ocean water is 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit warmer since 1969.

Antarctic and Greenland ice has decreased in mass. NASA's claims that Greenland lost an average of 286 billion tons of ice while Antarctica lost about 127 billion tons of ice per year between 1993 and 2016. Glacier ice is decreased all over the world. Satellites also showed that the ice cover is decreased in the last 50 years and ice is melting earlier. Sea level has increased by 8 inch only in the last century with most of increase happened in last 20 years.

Small Things We Can Do to Reduce Climate Pollution and Warming.

How can we help in healing our planet? It is very easy, on a personal level we can stop using appliances which consumes more energy and produces more heat. Buy energy efficient bulbs like led one’s which consumes about 80% less energy than conventional bulbs. We can switch to electric power cars from traditional fuel powered ones or at least buy fuel efficient cars with hybrid fuel function. Maintaining your car in good shape also reduces the consumption of fuel which means less pollution for the planet. If you need to run an errand in your neighborhood choose to walk instead of driving, walking is also healthy for you.

If you can avoid air travel and travel by train than do it, air transport is the major source of climate pollution. Try getting power for your home from a company that uses renewable energy or at least a significant amount of energy produced by the company comes from wind or solar energy. Reduce the wastage of water cause pumps required to fill up your tank produces carbon pollution and consumes energy.
