Yet, more often than not, these soon-to-be industry leaders have a profound vision anchored in something deeper than the desire to succeed. As someone passionate about proving her accuracy, Eda Lourdes stands at the helm of a brand grounded on celebrating individuality, multifunctionality and fashion diversity.
Hailing from the picturesque and culturally diverse Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, Eda Lourdes was introduced to the creative world at a young age through her involvement with dancing, modeling, television, and theater. She received her Bachelorʼs Degree in Business Administration in 2000 from the University of Puerto Rico. Then completed a Masterʼs Degree in Business Administration in 2007 from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. For fifteen years, she worked in the finance and investment sector before making a career switch to fashion to follow her innate artistry with encouragement from her professors and mentors.
In New York, she took the first step towards achieving her dreams and attended Parsons the New School for Art & Design. She relocated from New York to the fashion capital of the world - Paris, to follow her creative passion. She then garnered experience in the fashion industry by working for top fashion houses such as Kenzo, IRO, Apparis, Miriam Budet, Koshka Paris and Lemloren.

With her expert knowledge of design and her insider experience in the industry, Eda has revolutionized the fashion industry; her interests in multifunctionality, storytelling and style are so sharpened that her accessories are causing a tremendous interest and desire. To further imprint her legacy in the fashion realm, she launched her handbag line, EDALOU PARIS, using her management skills to bring the one-woman company to smashing success.
With the Mantra: rock, dance and love, Edaʼ's drive is to design for visionary women who are professional, discerning, active, and stylish. Her designs are inspired by the women in her life, starting with her mother, aunts, and loyal girlfriends. Her second muse is her love affair with her favorite cities' lifestyle, culture, and fashion: San Juan, New York, and Paris. Her travels between these three fashion cities have inspired her designs and greatly influenced her life and dreams.
In May 2019, she clinched the nomination for the New York City's Independent Handbag Designer Awards competition, which led her to dream of launching her luxury design, La Coucou. Then, in April 2021, La Coucou received an award from the Worldʼs largest and most diffused international design contest: A Design Award & Competition.
In addition to running a successful handbag brand, Eda Lourdes is also a proud mommy to her two kids - Yohan and Jarod. So it is incredible to witness all of her achievements, considering she changed careers at 37-years-old from a VP at a financial institution to starting all over and learning the intricacies of the fashion industry while also being a mother.
In the coming years, the passionate entrepreneur wants to grow and expand her business. "I want to keep growing our line of products (handbags and jewelry), make more collaborations with other like-minded designers and brands and start teaching others what I have learned so far to inspire other women and give back," she said.
