Jewellery is not just an article but a story that speaks of every emotion embedded with it. Jewellery carries a cultural and traditional appeal which makes it cherished by generations to come.
IVAR is not merely a jewellery company, but a brand standing firm on the values of culture, tradition, and emotional belief. It began as the dream of Ritika Ravi's, who followed her passion and pursued a bachelor's degree in Jewellery design from the London College of Fashion. Interestingly, the brand is actually her namesake, with the word IVAR being derived from her father's name. It is the epitome of sophistication and fun - a perfect representation of the designer. The choice of the brand name signifies that the designer, Ritika Ravi has a deep-rooted inclination towards her culture.
"Sometimes you just have to keep moving forward and discover new things along the way," believes Ritika Ravi. She knows that inspiration comes from exploring, and the more you explore, the more you will be open to new ideas. For instance, the idea behind IVAR is cumulative of her personal experience and the laidback lifestyle of the Maldives Islands.
The designer is so grounded in her tradition and culture that she has named her latest collection after her mother.
The designer is so grounded in her tradition and culture that she has named her latest collection after her mother. 'CHARU' means ‘beautiful’ and the collection exemplifies the familial affection, tradition, and culture of the designer's unique contemporary aesthetic. The basic inspiration of this collection comes from the famous Nelli Ring, which is traditionally presented to Tamil and Telugu brides by their mothers as a representation of their vows taken in the presence of ‘Agni’ or fire. The Charu collection is reminiscent of this unbreakable bond between mother and daughter.
The objective of IVAR is to create jewellery that is relevant but also works for generations to come. Ivar jewelry is all handcrafted with fine attention to detail. A large amount of time is spent by the craftsman and the brand to ensure that each piece is of the highest quality.
IVAR respects all the fundamental human rights of people connected to the brand. The approach of IVAR is a little different, it is more into social work, working for the underprivileged youth. It has also donated to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, which works towards children's education and the building of schools in the rural areas of Italy.
By making contemporary jewellery from old Indian techniques, Ivar has created the path of international appeal and accessibility.
