Even if you never get the chance to touch, see, or feel the ocean, it touches you every day with the fresh breath you take, each drop of water you drink, and every bite of food you eat. Each one of us is connected to the sea in many ways. However much we try to avoid taking responsibility for the havoc caused on the seas, it is high time we acted before it is too late. The global ecosystem cannot function without the contribution of the sea and oceans. Today we meet up with Jessica Sinclair, designer, environmentalist, philanthropist, and founder of JIINAN collections, as she enlightens us on how we can save the sea.
JIINAN is a brand that deals in luxurious eco-conscious activewear with the main aim of saving marine life. JIINAN uses plastic bottles and old fishing nets to produce the fabric for its luxurious outfits. Jessica has always credited her visit to Portugal to take Yoga classes as the real turning point in her life. This is the time she realized the need to design luxurious and environmentally friendly outfits. JIINAN only works with manufacturers who adhere to the brand’s goals and ambitions towards profitability and environmental friendliness. Thanks to Balinese and Italian manufacturers who were happy to work with the brand’s terms, JIINAN can comfortably force its way into the top sea- and ocean-friendly companies.

“Our cumulative efforts, as a globe, can have a huge impact on the ever-deteriorating state of the seas. No individual effort is enough to save the sea animals and plants,” says Jessica. “If companies can stop releasing harmful chemicals into the rivers, which lead into the seas, and fishermen stop throwing used nets into the oceans, then the world will be a better place to live,” she adds. “Nature is quite unforgiving; if we destroy nature, nature will harshly destroy us soon; this is all up to our government and individual efforts to act fast,” Jessica reckons.
JIINAN is at the forefront of protecting the environment while ensuring high-quality activewear is produced. Let us not concentrate so much on being rich that we forget that the first form of riches is a clean and healthy environment.
