Healthcare has been a struggle for millions of American families for decades. Politicians on both sides of the aisle have been working to fix it. They run on promises to get healthcare reform done, and then get to Washington, only to be greeted by partisan gridlock. It has been extremely expensive, however over the last few years the costs have skyrocketed making it unaffordable for the average American family. Many people already struggle with their daily expenses, and the costs of healthcare just seem to make things worse.
Many people already struggle with their daily expenses, and the costs of healthcare just seem to make things worse.
Our most vulnerable citizens who have worked hard their entire life, our senior citizens, are the ones that are the most affected by this. Medicare has become unsustainable and Medicaid is not that much too behind. We have many seniors in the country who are unable to have their basic necessities such as their disposable briefs or hospital bed pads. They are in nursing facilities and their care is being cut because of the low reimbursements. Whenever there is a cut in the payments, the first to suffer are the patients who are being cared for. Lots of these seniors are also veterans which deserve our utmost respect and care. Someone who worked their entire life, paid their fair share of taxes, should have the ability to enjoy their last few years without the insurance companies or Medicare and Medicaid dictating to them what they can have or not have.
The problem is, is that Washington is so divided now that it doesn’t seem like anything will change anytime soon. Members of Congress and the federal government all have Cadillac plans and don’t really worry much about themselves not having insurance. However, it is time as a country that we all get together and demand our lawmakers to make changes.
