Do Deep Work
Set aside a fixed number of hours everyday to indulge in this deep work, wherein you focus without any interruptions or distractions.
The term “deep work” refers to the ability to produce at your peak level for extended periods of time. Set aside a fixed number of hours everyday to indulge in this deep work, wherein you focus without any interruptions or distractions. This will help you leverage your brainpower to make significant progress in your tasks and get important breakthroughs on a critical task.
Apply Pomodoro Technique
Pomodoro Techniques is a method that encourages managing time in an effective way during work. It basically involves breaking down work into intervals of typically 25 minutes or 90 minutes and taking a short break in between these intervals.
This technique is often followed with a timer that only rings when the set work time is over and it’s time for break. It’s a great tool to beat procrastination and improve focus.
Set Deadlines and Stick to Them
Deadlines are quintessential to our lives. Without them, there’s no purpose to doing anything. They’re a great way to control procrastination and get things done quickly. Although, you must set realistic and practical deadlines. Define the exact goal, the exact amount of effort it might take to accomplish it and set a timeline that you’re more likely to finish it in.
Also, it is recommended to divide a big task into subtasks and set deadlines for each of the subtasks to set clear goals to achieve.
Shane helps his clients focus only on priority tasks at hand to remove all the excess baggage away from them through his techniques.
Track Your Task-Time
During our working hours, we often get distracted by tons of things around us and eventually waste our time on trivial things. Task-Timing helps in analysing where our maximum time is spent on and what’s actually causing distraction in our work. To keep track of their tasks, people employ several techniques including making paper task sheets, making time tracking spreadsheets and using softwares or applications to track tasks on our smartphones. If you know where most of your time is getting wasted, you can plan on improving your focus around that particular area and mindfully work towards it.
Furthermore, task-time tracking can also help you analyse your efficiency levels to finish a task. Accordingly, you can formulate methods or upskill to get more efficient at work.
