On November 30, 2011, 292 peaceful people were arrested during the Los Angeles Police Department’s raid on Occupy Los Angeles’ encampment at City Hall. This week and next, many of these peaceful people will be in court and they need your support.
Jerry Drucker: The 14 GOP Governors, in lockstep and committing fraud, shouting they want to prevent fraud of maybe a few hundred fraudulent voters across the nation, by eliminating 5 million, poor, young, elderly, minority voters, requiring a poll tax, to have ID’s, Birth Certificate or driver’s license.
Linda Milazzo: On January 2nd, thanks to the hard work and determination of members of the Occupy Movement, the 123rd Rose Parade is permitting viewers to Just Imagine how spectacular our country could be if greed and war disappeared.
Mark Naison: What we did not envision, when we created our 99% C lub, was how it would create an incredible online free speech zone and public square not only for club members, but for people with no direct connection to Fordham who found out what we were doing.
Steve Fine: While the Occupy Movement has been busy targeting the dominance and corruption of the 1% on the domestic side, it has inadvertently given those same people a massive free pass on the foreign policy side. This needs to change.
Dick Price: Reverend Jesse Jackson urged the black community to get involved with the Occupy Movement, saying, “Whenever the Freedom Train comes to town, get onboard.”
Shamus Cooke: In order to unite all working Americans into a powerful coalition, Medicare for All should be demanded, so that all Americans will see their interests reflected in the fight.
Paulina Gonzalez: House by house, block by block, the residents of these South Central neighborhoods are being pushed out by landlords eager to capitalize on USC’s expansion.
Ellen Brown: The campaign to “move your money” has gotten a groundswell of support. Having greater impact would be to “move our money” — move our local government revenues out of Wall Street banks into our own publicly-owned banks.
Tom Degan: This week the spokespersons for the plutocracy have been predicting the end of the movement which is now engulfing the world. The joke’s on them.
Shamus Cooke: For Occupy to grow into a democratic revolutionary movement, the working majority of the population must join in, requiring that Occupy broadcast a message based on concrete working-class demands.
Sharon Kyle: Kwazi Nkrumah, a long-time civil rights activist, has been arrested in Long Beach where the Occupy Movement was gathering as part of “Occupy the Ports”, a coordinated West Coast port shutdown.
David Kristjanson-Gural: I am asking you to continue to lend your support to the Occupy gatherings. Just show up as you are able, on top of everything else you are doing, to lend your encouragement and support to others and, in turn, to gather strength of purpose.
