Richard Eskow: The president and his fellow Democrats have agreed to a series of reckless budget-cutting measures instead of fighting for jobs and protecting the social contract, which has deepened and lengthened the lingering recession.
Nick Antonicello: Regardless of prior elected experience, Secretary of State Bowen, Councilwoman Janice Hahn & Marcy Winograd will absolutely be last in overall seniority in the 112th Congress of the United States!
Linda Milazzo: It’s time to right this wrong. Holding office in America is not for the purpose of serving Israel. It’s for the purpose of serving America, the American people, and America’s honor in the world.
Election Day Propositions, Candidates, Judges and More for the November 2, 2010 election with endorsements from the Progressive Democrats of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Democratic Party. Everything you need in one place.
Sylvia Moore: It’s terrific that Waxman remains on the right side of this issue. For those of us hoping that he would use his position to make net neutrality a higher priority in the House, we were disappointed.
Tom Hall: In the same week that 48 states agreed to a proposal to have national education standards, Chuck Wilkerson said that we should be busting teachers’ unions, slashing teacher salaries and turning education over to private enterprise, to make a profit. 48 States. That’s every state except Alaska and Texas, even the most “red” states want some minimum standards. But the Teabag position is that public education is bad and should be ended.
Norman Solomon: When Israel attacked the Gaza aid flotilla, Congresswoman Jane Harman was engaged in a parallel assault. Israel’s government relied on the efficacy of violence; Harman’s campaign was counting on the power of paid media. In both cases, the targets were advocates of human rights for Palestinian people.
David Swanson: Marcy Winograd is a stand-out. She’s is campaigning against Congresswoman Jane Harman, a wealthy warmonger corporatist who has been caught conspiring against her nation with foreign agents, who suppressed the warranteless spying story until George W. Bush could get a second term in office, and who has referred to herself proudly as “the best Republican in the Democratic Party.” Marcy Winograd, on the other hand, has been a leader of Progressive Democrats of America and has perhaps the smartest and most progressive platform in the country. She also garnered 38% last time, with no help.
Maureen Cruise: Whatever ‘liberal Democrat’ Waxman once was, he no longer is. His prepared speeches are nice to hear and the ‘charm’ is palpable. But people’s lives are hanging in the balance and reality lies in votes and legislation, the action and the inaction of his office.
Linda Milazzo: At the behest of his congressional ally, Jane Harman (CA-36), Democratic Congressman Henry Waxman (CA-30) has launched a mean-spirited ideological assault on Harman’s Democratic primary challenger, Marcy Winograd, that is garnering disfavor for Waxman and Harman amongst Democratic voters.
On January 3, 2010 congressional candidate Marcy Winograd wrote an open letter to Congressman Henry Waxman addressing his praise for Blue Dog Democrat Jane Harman for her position on energy and the environment, never acknowledging that Harman’s support of perpetual war leaves the worst carbon foot print of all – a scorched earth.
