Northeast Los Angeles “Pushing Forward With Obama” Gala Fundraiser. Sunday, September 23, 2 to 5 p.m., 1109 Oneata Drive, Mt. Washingtong (Los Angeles),
Gil Garcetti, who remarkably transitioned from 32 years of public service as a prosecutor (eight as L.A.’s District Attorney) to a second career as a distinguished artist-photographer, author and philanthropist, will be among the speakers at the September 23 “Pushing Forward With Obama” gala fundraiser in Mt Washington.
Gabriel Buelna and Fernando J. Orozco: If the Autry plans on leaving and taking the collection and doesn’t have a long range plan for the Southwest Museum, what are they receiving funding for? Residents and visitors have the right to know.
Sharon Kyle: Do citizens have a right to monitor the behavior of law enforcement? What about citizen journalists? The case of citizen Joseph “Jazz” Hayden may be one of police retaliation. What do you think?
Dick Price: With no commutes to bookend our days — other than the walk down the hall to our office in our home — and no workmates other than each other to remind us that it’s time for lunch or time to leave for the day, we found ourselves working nonstop from morning to night on LA Progressive and its companion, Hollywood Progressive.
Dick Price: I want someone who will stand on the corner and raise some hell. Lord knows, Washington has all the “go along to get along” it needs.
Nina Zippay and Fernando J. Orozco: The parents in this complex and diverse system are firm believers in LAUSD’s mission: “to create critical thinkers prepared to participate in a diverse and complex society.” And it can’t get any more complex than LAUSD.
In our ongoing immersion into all things political, we held the first fundraiser in our home last Saturday. We’re not exactly social butterflies, so the idea of having dozens of folks over for Stella, Brie, and polite conversation is more than a bit daunting.
