Fear is the Republicans’ most muscular media manipulation, which is a methodical, maniacal measured matrix, used as a political attack tool. Besides the “sky is falling” and “mushroom clouds,” there is: “The *Democrats will raise taxes, take away the Republicans’ sacred God-given guns,” “kill unborn zygotes,” and “want to practice, (horror of horrors) Socialized Medicine,” just like the rest of all the industrialized nations of the world, that give health care to their citizens.
But wait, there’s more. If you buy into the Republicans’ fear factor, they have a special offer you can’t refuse. A WAR OF WORDS — or WOW for short. In 1986, with a single word, Frank Luntz launched his lucrative career and became the darling of the GOP (rhymes with sop) phrase makers. Luntz, a Republican wordsmith, pollster, and consultant, substituted “Death” in front of the word Tax. What percentage of Americans did this one word change, “Death” actually serve? Only one-third of 1 percent of U.S. tax payers were helped by that one word. Essentially, that means that 99 and two-thirds percent of the U.S. citizens who paid taxes, had Congress voting against their self interest for the Death Tax. Money talks.
GOP Talk and Talking Points
The GOP fills their truth and reality gap with strong, nonsensical, or feel good catch phrases, as: “Shock and Awe,” “Compassionate Conservative,” “Keep Our Nation Safe,” “I’m the Decider,” “I’m Not a Crook,” “Our Motives Are Pure,” (pure what?) “Those Liberals,” “T-Rex Walked with Jesus,” “Maverick,” “You Betcha,” “Hockey Mom,” “Joe Six Pack,” “Return to Our Values,” “Drill, Baby, Drill” and the ever popular: “Obama’s Coming to Take Away Our Guns.”
Pro Prevaricators and Phrase Pushers
Currently, 95% of talk radio is Corporate and Conservative-controlled. Oxy-Cotin addict Rush Limbaugh receives his GOP talking points directly from the Republican National Committee, each weekday morning, so that the mania maven can spread his anti-Constitutional and anti-U.S. propaganda over his 570 conservative radio outlets. Then there’s Glenn Beck, the new baby nerocon crier on the Fox, tearfully spewing his love and devotion slogan to the United States of America: “Believe in something! Even if it’s wrong! Believe in it!” Can you believe it?! Bonzo Beck actually said it.
Beck has paranoiac power. Other popular paranoia peddlers who foment violence are: Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and now fading, Ann Coulter. New on the paranoia hit parade, is Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.). “I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America? I think people would love to see an expose like that.” Bachmann would also like a “Revolution” to take back America.
Just Say No — Be an Obstructionist — Stop the Vote
Do you think former Governor Mike Huckabee is a square-shooter Republican? Here he is kidding on the square shooting: (from Brad Blog)
Huckabee: “You have two jobs. One: get all those people who are going to vote for Bob out to the polls and vote. If they’re not gonna vote for Bob, you have another job. Let the air out of their tires and do not let them out of their driveway on Election Day. Keep ’em home. Do the Lord’s work, my friend. I’m giving you an opportunity – yes, do the right thing.” All Bushrove appointees must be GOPee’rs, skilled in all forms of voter suppression and vote stealing.
From Reagan on, it took the GOP over 30 years to build, buy, and control the media as well as the airwaves. In that timespan, conservative think tanks also evolved. Partisan GOP political companies built and bought the major voting machines and voting data-processing machines, such as Diebold, ES&S, and Sequoia.
An Atlanta company, Choice Point, delivered to Florida’s Secretary of State Katherine Harris (one of W’s principal campaign managers) over 100,000 purged voters, almost all African Americans and Democrats. Even now, “caging,” robo-calls, voter intimidation, and voter suppression accounts for millions more of lost Democratic votes. Former Senator Norm Coleman showed us how to “obstruct” the vote. Coleman’s problem is that when you stamp your feet and hold your breath, you turn blue.
The politically biased U.S. Supreme Court in an unprecedented decision selected Bush to win the stolen Florida election by 537 votes.
In Nevada, a Republican voting registration company dumped tens of thousands of Democratic registration forms into the trash.
Transference — Or Focused Psycho-Republicanism
Transference is considered by most psychotherapists as a borderline personality disorder. It seems that since the gop has been out of power, they’ve gone south of the borderline. Transference is putting the blame on the opposition for the gop failure, in the latest case of the U.S. ‘budget.’ W’s last budget was $3.1 trillion. One of his paranoia pushers said on air that Obama had outspent “all the presidents before him,” never suggesting that was the charge against W. W’s last budget was 3.1 trillion and Obama’s is 3.5 trillion. So what’s the difference? W never included the cost of war, by simply ignoring the huge costs. Obama did include the cost of the wars. It becomes gop transference when the disloyal opposition lies, ignores the facts and uses fear to fool us by doing what they accuse the Democrats of doing.
Here Is a Result of Using GOP Fear
A Pittsburgh gunman, 23-year-old Richard Poplawski, wearing a bulletproof vest, opened fire on police officers who were responding to a domestic disturbance call, killing three of them. Poplawski irrationally feared for “the Obama gun ban that’s on the way” and “didn’t like our rights being infringed upon.”
Yeah, like the right to life.
