The Piratization of the United States

woman-pirate.gifPrivateers from the 16th to the 19th centuries, were private warships authorized by a country with ‘letters of marque’ to piratize foreign ships. It actually was state-supported piracy. “Argh,” was the pirates cry. Today’s U.S. Ship of State has been Roved, piratized, propagandized, neoconned, and corpratized. Their cry: “Money is power and power is money.”

How and when did this coup start? One could say we started real piratization when we created banana republics and took over smaller nations with ‘Gunboat Diplomacy.’ A true maverick Marine, General Smedley Butler, wrote about the power of wealth and corporations controlling our nation in his 1933 book, War Is A Racket: “WAR is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It’s the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.”

Butler goes on to say: “A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small “inside” group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.”

If the above quote from War Is A Racket sounds familiar, all we have to do is look at the last eight years. Many economists compare today’s economic conditions to the 1929 Crash and the ensuing Depression. But we were between wars then. Then three presidents in a row felt it was un-American to profit from war. It’s profound irony that Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower warned the United States to “beware of the Industrial-Military Complex,” that rules today.

GOP Gains Control of the Media
Then there was the Southern Strategy, Nixon, and Watergate. If not for a janitor, tapes, and John Dean, the Republicans could have gotten away with it. How did the Democrats control the Presidency and the Congress during the 30’s and the 40’s? Organization. Franklin D. Roosevelt owned the radio with his “Fireside Chats.” Dr. Goebbles gained full control of the media and propaganda, those concepts being paramount in Hitler’s success. It was in the 70s that the conservatives started their rise to power. Control the media by buying it up. Start think tanks that will only consider conservative causes.

The GOP decided to never let what happened to Nixon, happen again to a Republican. Use the White South as a racial divide. Divide and conquer. Buy politicians. Make it profitable for them. Hire linguists to slant issues. Linguist Frank Luntz hit the jackpot in the 80s with a single word. ‘Death.’ Luntz substituted ‘Death’ for ‘Inheritance.’ It meant billions to 1% of Americans. 99% of the American tax payers voted against their own interest for the Death Tax. Words will work for the wealthy, while not working for withering, wilting and wrecking workers wages, or woeful, weak welfare widows without wordsmiths with big sticks.

Enter the Reagan era and the CIA. 1980. The October Surprise. Former CIA Director, George H.W. Bush and former CIA Director William Casey, maintained their contacts with the Agency. Casey became Reagan’s campaign manager and arranged with the Iranians to hold the American hostages, until after the election, without President Carter’s knowledge. In return for holding the hostages, they would receive weapons galore. It was treason.

Oliver North, in the Reaganite’s employ, was put in charge of Carter’s bold attempt to rescue the hostages by helicopters. North made sure the helicopters were not suited for the Iranian desert and, sure enough, two of the craft went down and the covert plan failed. The moment Reagan was sworn in, the 52 U.S. hostages, waiting on the tarmac in Tehran went home to a hero’s welcome, the Reagan gang saying the release was because the Ayatollah wanted to make nice to the new president. This treasonous GOP coup with CIA help was the beginning of a sea change to capture the U.S.

Reagan: “The scariest words in the English language: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” Air Traffic Controllers. (gone by getting rid of the union) Deregulations for all large corporations. Get rid of all unions. Government shouldn’t interfere with the market. Corporations have all the rights of a person, but people don’t have the rights of a corporation. Control the Supreme Court and Justice Department by appointing ideologs, loyal to the President.

The Magic of Misdirection
The GOP will have to use the magic of misdirection. Always speak the Rove talking points. Never admit to a wrong. If the GOP is caught red handed doing a treasonous or illegal act, blame it on the Democrat. Voting: Intimidation. Voter Fraud, Caging, robo-calls, push-pull calls, own all media and all think tanks, propaganda 24/7, voter suppression, own all major electronic voting and data voting machines, making all programs proprietary (secret) and privatize the vote.

For all agencies and cabinet posts, appointees must be loyal to the GOP president, not the people and must be willing to ignore the U.S. Constitution. Bring RNC laptops into the White House. (Ignore the Hatch Act) Have GOP Secretary’s of State and voting control in all southern states, purge minorities and Democrats.

jerry_drucker_head.gifInstead of the best and the brightest, appoint the worst and the most loyal. Control U.S. military and overseas votes. Suck the U.S. Treasury dry with no-bid contracts, privatization, and any wars or disasters the GOP can find or create. No need shrinking the government to drown in a bathtub. The GOP c an increase the government so there will be no money left for the dreaded Social Security and Medicare.

Without employing all of the above, the Republicans wouldn’t have won a national election for the last 30 years. Money is power and power is money. Without a letter of marque, the United States has been piratized.
