In the leadup to the midterm elections, the Democrats seem to be campaigning mainly on abortion. Bernie and other progressives are begging them to shift their focus to the economy, especially the Republican/corporate agenda of ending Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare. However, the thing that nobody is talking to voters about, the elephant in the room, is that the Democrats are now the party of war, and Biden is leading us to the brink of nuclear confrontation.

Biden has entered into a proxy war with Russia over Ukraine, and he seems to be trying to enter into another proxy war with China over Taiwan. The corporate media are, as usual, spinning this as the U.S. defending freedom, but even if that were true, it seems clear that we are heading in a dangerous direction. There doesn’t seem to be an exit plan, even though everyone saw what happened when we lacked an exit plan in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The only winner in those wars was the military industrial complex. However, unlike Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, Russia and China are major powers with nuclear weapons.

The Biden administration has been saying that it won’t negotiate with Russia, while it has poured about $54 billion into Ukraine since January. But the Biden administration has also leaked its belief that Ukraine can’t win. There is even less of a chance that Taiwan could prevail in a war against China. Yet the Senate’s version of the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) will include $10 billion in military aid for Taiwan. So what is the plan?

If the real agenda of the US/NATO alliance is regime change in Russia and China, it is likely that those countries would strike back with everything they have.

Putin has already said that he would use nuclear weapons to defend Russia. What would President Biden do if Russia used nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war? What is the plan?

The only obvious option other than escalation is negotiated compromise, but that appears to be off the table, at least for now.

Maybe they are waiting until the losses are greater. Some believe that instead of peace in Ukraine, the US wants to overextend Russia, strengthen its military and energy dominance over Europe, further enrich the military industrial complex, and hand the ruins of Ukraine over to its corporate allies.

Democrats have traditionally been the party of the lesser evil, but now it’s not so clear that their evil is lesser. Voters now have the choice of one party that could be leading us to a fascist dictatorship and another party that could be leading us to nuclear holocaust. Where is the party of negotiation and sanity?
